project

Intersecția is an informal and independent place for art and research in the rural context of Romania. It is a house, where to host artists and researchers, who are invited to spend a period of time in a little village on the south eastern Carpathian Mountains, in Transylvania.

Intersecția wants to be a space of coexistence based on conviviality and sharing, which is redefined from time to time in synergy with the hosted people. It is an intersection, not just geographic, but a place of meeting and comparison between people, ideas, energies, to trigger reactions.

The project focuses on the environmental and researched-based practices of arts, and it is dedicated to persons who work with a territorial and explorative approach, and which can be motivated in spending some time in the Romanian countryside.
The invitation is to live and research in a rural environment, in the village, in the fields, in the woods, without a nostalgic attitude, and to re-think the interrelation between man and the environment from an ecological point of view. The intention is to decolonize thought from urban habits of thought, recovering a quality of non-urban thinking, to investigate the possibilities of dialogue between art, culture and rurality, in developing an eco-critical discourse.

It is a context that invites you to take a break and live time at another speed, and to get out of the production and consumption logics, also them of art, recovering the sense of a time not functional at work, and giving value to unproductive moments.
In fact, the research period is not intended for the immediate formalization of a work or for its exhibition, even if possible, but it offers the availability to continue the research over time, overcoming the short-term project culture (use-consumption). It is about “resetting” the thought to a different speed and changing the perspective in order to develop new aesthetic approaches. Tuning the mind to the place. There is nothing particular to do, all is to be invented.

From the interrelation between ecological thought and art I would like dancing forms to be born!

The project is conceived and run by Emanuela Ascari.
